TEHRAN-The veteran actor Ali Nassirian will be commemorated in a ceremony on Thursday at the gallery of Mellat Cineplex in Tehran, where a book written about him will also be unveiled.

“A Look at Ali Nasirian's Life and Works” is the book's title, written by Negar Hosseini and published by Farhang Moaser Publishers, ILNA reported.

In addition to narrating the personal and artistic life of Nasirian, the book also reviews the artistic events in the past 80 years.

Born in Tehran, Nasirian, 89, started his acting career in theatrical works at age 19. Three years later, he played his first role in a movie, and after three years, he appeared in a series on national TV.

In about 65 years of artistic career, the veteran actor has played in over 30 series, 40 films, and 70 plays and TV plays and received various accolades, including two Crystal Simorgh awards, a Hafez Award, an Iran's Film Critics and Writers Association award, and a Sepas Award. 

He first appeared in a supporting role in Dariush Mehrjui's “The Cow” (1969). He then played the lead role in “Mr. Naïve” (1970), also by Mehrjui. His other major films include “The Postman” (1971) and “The Cycle” (1974) both by Mehrjui, “Kamalolmolk” (1983) by Ali Hatami, “Mirza Norouz's Shoes” (1985) by Mohammad Motevaselani, “Stone Lion” (1986) by Masoud Jafari Jozani, “Captain Khorshid” (1987) by Nasser Taghvai, “The Scent of Joseph's Shirt” (1995) by Ebrahim Hatamikia, “Iron Island” (2005) by Mohammad Rasoulof, “Saturday’s Hunter” (2011) by Parviz Sheikh Tadi, and “Sun Children” (2020) by Majid Majidi.

He also played roles in the series “Heads on Gallows” (1984) directed by Mohammad-Ali Najafi, “Hezar Dastan” (1979-1987) by Ali Hatami, “The Wolves” (1986-1987) by Davood Mir-Bagheri, “Lighter than Darkness” (1999-2002) and “The Forbidden Fruit” (2007) by Hassan Fathi, and “Sheikh Baha'ee” (2003-2008) by Shahram Asadi among others.

In 2002, Nasirian was honored as an Iranian National Treasure in theater and film.
